Teamsters To Host Roundtable With VP Harris, DNC Absence

The Teamsters, a prominent labor union with 1.3 million members, are set to host Vice President Kamala Harris for a roundtable discussion in the near future. The union is currently coordinating with Harris' campaign to finalize the dates for the event.

However, the Teamsters' President, Sean O'Brien, has not received an invitation to speak at the upcoming Democratic National Convention, which is scheduled to begin next week in Chicago. O'Brien had also requested to speak at the Republican National Convention last month, where he criticized both major political parties for their lack of support for working people.

While the Teamsters will not have a speaking slot at the Democratic National Convention, they are expected to have a presence on the convention stage, according to a source familiar with the convention planning.

Traditionally, Democrats have been aligned with labor unions, while Republicans have often been viewed as hostile towards them. Despite this, the Teamsters met with President Trump earlier this year, and the decision on endorsing a presidential candidate will be made after the conventions.

President Trump's interactions with labor unions have been met with mixed reactions. Following a meeting with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Trump claimed to have significant support from union voters. However, his comments during a discussion with Tesla CEO Elon Musk, where they appeared to belittle workers' rights, drew criticism from unions, including the United Auto Workers who filed unfair labor practice charges against Trump and Musk.

Trump's campaign dismissed the allegations as a political stunt, while the National Labor Relations Board announced it would investigate the claims made by the UAW.
