After news broke on Friday afternoon that the Tennessee Titans were set to waive defensive lineman Teair Tart, the player himself has confirmed the incoming move.
Tart took to Twitter later in the day to thank the Titans for “releasing” him. The Florida International product will actually go to waivers, where he’ll certainly draw interest.
If he clear, which is highly unlikely, then Tart is free to sign with any team.
“Appreciate the Titans respecting my request for the release,” Tart tweeted. “Looking forward for my next [home]…”
Titans beat writer Paul Kuharsky originally reported the news of the impending move, which he says could be made official on Saturday.
The Titans have yet to confirm the parting of ways.

Tart is handling the situation better than his former teammate, Jaleel Johnson and Monty Rice, both of whom did not go quietly. Johnson has since been brought back, though.
While Tart’s departure in-season is a surprise, his strife with the Titans is not. The 2020 UDFA has posted multiple cryptic tweets in the past to hint at his displeasure over not getting a contract extension and having to play on the $4.3 million tender he eventually signed.
Meanwhile, the Titans weren’t happy with Tart’s conditioning, effort and attitude, per Kuharsky’s report.
It’s an unfortunate end with a player who is no doubt talented, but a bad attitude can hurt a locker room, something head coach Mike Vrabel clearly wanted to avoid.
