Teacher left baffled after school gives her 'insulting' Christmas present

Buying Christmas gifts for other people can be a bit of a minefield - especially when the recipient is a work colleague you might not know too well.

However, one teacher was left completely baffled when she unwrapped her festive gift from work. In fact, she was so gutted, she took to social media to gauge whether she was overreacting.

Posting on Tiktok, the art teacher struggled to hide her disappointment upon opening the seemingly innocent gift from her school.

And the response to the video has garnered quite the reaction, amassing 178,000 views, as people are mind-blown by the strange gift.

She asks viewers whether she is being 'a brat', adding: "I'm confused. Is this a joke? I got my Christmas present from the school. It's literally a Covid rapid test."

She then moves the candy-cane themed wrapping paper off the box to reveal the Covid test, before letting out a big sigh in disgust.

She then jokes that this is her 'Christmas bonus' after adding the hashtag #teachersareunderpaid to her post - further showing her frustration at the lacklustre present.

People flocked to the comments section to share how gobsmacked they are by the gesture, and many made the same point - that Covid tests are free in the district they are from.

While another added: "Sorry but omg I wasn't expecting it to be this bad" with three laughing emojis.

A third added: "What??!? You can go online to the USPS website and request 4 of those tests for FREE!" while another added: "Just plain insulting - I'd rather have nothing!"

Many others pointed out that it was 'hilarious' that the school had decided to wrap the gift, as one said: "What??!? You can go online to the USPS website and request 4 of those tests for FREE!"

Other teachers have shared that they've never received gifts from their school, as one wrote: "Girl, all we got was a Merry Christmas announcement on the intercom".

Another added: "Last year we got served hot cocoa that was left over from an event for the kids lmao".
