Everyone who enjoys a cup of tea likes to make it in their own preferred way, with some liking a dark, strong brew while others like it milky white.
While the UK continues to navigate the cost of living crisis, people have been forthcoming with how they are cutting back to lower bills. But one person's bag-saving tip, which sees them reuse a single teabag up to four times in one day, has raised eyebrows after it was shared online.
Posting on the CasualUK forum on Reddit, they asked: "Where does this esteemed subreddit sit with regards to reusing tea bags? I do reuse, three to four times in a regular size mug. As many times as I have tea a day."
This revelation shocked other members of the online chatroom, who went so far as to brand this weaker type of tea as undrinkable. "No, I like tea not dishwater," one appalled comment read.
Another wrote: "The only acceptable reusing of tea bags is possibly making two cups with one bag at most, must be at the same time," while a third penned: "Never done it, I've tried it once or twice and it's just made a flavourless tea.
"Once they're used, they're doomed to the compost."
One person even went so far as to compare their tea making method to criminal activity. "Not even at the bleakest of times that's acceptable," they wrote. "I'd imagine back when we're at war that'd still be considered war crime."
While some couldn't bear the thought of repurposing a used bag for a new cup of tea, others admitted that's just how they like it. One woman lamented their delight at how sharing teabags with her partner has saved her from buying extra.
She said: "I swear this is why me and my partner are soulmates. He likes a builder's brew, and I like my tea basically like hot milk with an essence of tea. He uses the teabag first, and then I get the rest out of it.
"Bought a huge bag of Yorkshire Tea from B&M over two years ago and it's still going proud."
