TDP will survive as long as Telugu race exists, says Naidu

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) national president and former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday visited the location at the MLA Quarters in Hyderabad where N.T. Rama Rao founded the Telugu Desam Party on this day 40 years ago.

“History was created exactly this day four decades ago. Unrivalled film star NTR could not bear the insults done to Telugu race and came out to do something for the people who have been showing their boundless love for him,” said Mr. Naidu.

Formally launching the party’s 40th foundation day celebrations, the TDP chief asserted that the Telugu Desam would remain as long as the Telugu race was on this planet. The TDP had made a deep impact on the political scene of not just Andhra Pradesh but the entire country. Henceforth, the country’s political history would be divided into before and after NTR founded the TDP, he said.

Mr. Naidu recalled how NTR spontaneously announced the formation of the TDP during an unplanned visit to the New MLA Quarters in those days. He went there along with some individuals for a discussion. After listening to the gathering of people, women and youth there, he announced the party without a second thought.

NTR’s initiatives

Mr. Naidu asserted that it was NTR who first underscored the importance of welfare and development. He showed the strength of Telugu self-respect to the outside world. “There have been many ups and downs in the TDP journey. The party has created history many times in the last 40 years. Once again, the party cadres will re-dedicate themselves to the pride of Telugu people.”

Along with party polit bureau members and other leaders, Chandrababu Naidu visited the NTR Ghat on Necklace Road and paid tributes to the departed leader.
