Tayto lovers slam new fizzy cola flavour as ‘vile’ and an ‘abomination’

Tayto lovers have been left horrified at the taste of a new limited edition flavour of the popular crisps.

The new 'fizzy cola' flavour of crisps has appeared in shops across Ireland in recent days and many were keen to try out the bizarre combination.

But people were quick to slam the strange jelly and crisp flavour as "vile" and an "abomination" once they had tasted them.

The controversial new crisp got many people talking online as people took to Twitter to share their thoughts.

Sharing a picture of the Tayto packet, one person claimed they were: "The [worst] thing to happen potatoes in Ireland since the Famine."

Another person wrote: "Would love to know who convinced Tayto that Fizzy Cola crisps where the way to go. Single worst thing I've ever tasted. Get rid."

A third person said: "No, just No. Fizzy Cola should always come in jelly form."

One woman who claimed to have tasted them, wrote: "They taste like those wipes you get after chicken wings. The one with the lemon toilet cleaner smell. Even my kids who eat all sorts hated them."

However, not everyone was put off by the sound of fizzy cola crisps, as one person wrote: "Where can I find these? I want to try them!"

Another added: "I reckon I would genuinely enjoy these, they sound delightful."

Others posted taste-test videos on TikTok, with one girl calling the "sour" crisps the "weirdest flavour" of crisps she had ever eaten.

In the short clip, she took a whiff from the bag, saying: "They actually smell like cola bottles."

One she tasted them she asked: "Why are they kind of nice? No. They're sour but... not."

"I don't know. I can't tell if I like that or not."
