Josh Taylor meets Jack Catterall tonight in the delayed first defence of his undisputed world titles in Glasgow.
Scotland’s first unified boxing king since Ken Buchanan in 1971 has his eyes firmly fixed on a mammoth future showdown with welterweight champion Terence Crawford, but needs to take care of business in front of a hometown crowd first.
Taylor produced a stunning performance on his last outing in Las Vegas last May, twice knocking down the previously unbeaten Jose Ramirez to add the WBC and WBO super-lightweight belts to the WBA, IBF and The Ring titles he already held.
Lancashire’s Catterall is an ex-British and Inter-Continental champion who fancies his chances of springing a massive upset in this delayed title challenge on enemy territory at the OVO Hydro, but will likely face a very tough night indeed in a battle of the southpaws.
