After several months of rumours and hint-dropping, Taylor Swift has confirmed that she is not only releasing a new album on August 23, but also a clothing collection.
During a ten-minute Instagram Live, the 29-year-old announced that her new record, Lover, would be accompanied by a clothing collaboration with much-loved British designer Stella McCartney.
"For the release of the Lover album there's gonna be a collaboration that I've done with Stella McCartney," Swift announced in the live stream.
"She's [McCartney] been a friend for a really long time and also just a woman that I respect so much. I respect what she creates, how she creates it.
"There's so much whimsy and imagination and romance to the clothing that she designs and I've worn a lot of her stuff recently."
Swift concluded: "She's heard the new album and this new collaboration is inspired by the Lover album."
What will it look like?
Swift's style has gone through an unmissable transformation for the latest album, with the album cover, her Instagram feed and outfits all heavily featuring a dreamy, pastel visual.
During a recent performance at iHeartRadio Wango Tango, Swift made a sartorial statement in a neon, tie-dye, two-set with tassel details. The outfit was accessorised with matching rainbow trainers designed by Stella McCartney which can be purchased for £489.
Judging on Swift's recent form, we can expect the collection to feature plenty of vivid rainbow colours.
Sustainability
One thing we do know for certain is that the collection will be sustainable.
Stella McCartney is a huge advocate for making her designs cruelty-free and as environmentally-friendly as possible. From using recycled materials to teaming up with Google to help improve environmental metrics, and even powering her offices and stores using green energy, the collaboration is sure to be eco-friendly.
