Taylor Swift's website crashes as fans rush to get pre-sale access for her 'Midnights' UK tour

Taylor Swift's website crashed after swarms of fans rushed online to get pre-sale access for her newly announced 'Midnights' tour - which includes UK dates. It's the first official confirmation of a tour many Taylor Swift fans have been waiting a long time for.

Calling it “the stories of 13 sleepless nights scattered throughout my life, fans can get their hands on her Midnights album, which comes out on October 21, 2022 that pop star first announced at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards.

Fans who pre-order her new album from the official UK store will receive a pre-sale code access “for forthcoming and yet to be announced Taylor Swift show dates” according to a post on the singer's website.

A statement on the hitmaker's website reads: "Pre-order the new Taylor Swift album 'Midnights' on any format from the official UK store to get special pre-sale code access for forthcoming and yet to be announced Taylor Swift UK show dates.

"If you have already pre-ordered via this store you are automatically eligible to receive a code for access to the pre-sale and do not need to order again. Pre-sale details and further information will be confirmed at a later date and will be communicated with you officially and via the email you supply at checkout, so you have plenty of warning ahead of the pre-sale launch.

"Eligible orders need to be placed before 5am (BST) on October 21 to be eligible for pre-sale code access."

Not long after the announcement was made on Monday evening (Oct 17), her official website crashed as fans read the announcement and tried to place orders in time.

Taylor herself described her new album as "a collection of music written in the middle of the night, a journey through terrors and sweet dreams. The floors we pace and the demons we face."

In 2020, Taylor cancelled her sixth tour, Lover Fest, which was to begin on April 5 due to the coronavirus pandemic. But now it would seem she's scheduled to go on tour once again next year.

When did Taylor Swift last tour in the UK?

Taylor's last UK tour came in the form of the Reputation World Tour in 2018, her most successful to date. It was the fifth concert tour by the American singer-songwriter in support of her sixth studio album, Reputation. It broke many records which included the third highest-grossing female concert tour of all time.

Her Lover Fest tour was postponed and then later cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This originally consisted of 10 shows in Europe, two in South America, and five in North America.

Taylor Swift's latest albums:

Taylor Swift has announced her tenth studio album 'Midnights' which is available to pre-order here. The album will be officially released on October 21, 2022. The 13-track album is described by the pop star as 'the stories of 13 sleepless nights scattered throughout my life.'

She wrote: “This collection of music written in the middle of the night, a journey through terrors and sweet dreams. The floors we pace and the demons we face. For all of us who have tossed and turned and decided to keep the lanterns lit and go searching – hoping that just maybe, when the clock strikes twelve, we’ll meet ourselves.”
