Taylor Swift's Vienna Concerts Canceled Due To Alleged Terror Plot

Taylor Swift performs during "The Eras Tour," Monday, Aug. 7, 2023, at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. Swift received six Grammy nominations on Friday.

Taylor Swift’s three concerts in Vienna have been canceled following an alleged terror plot. Concert organizers Barracuda Music announced the cancellation via Instagram, citing government officials' confirmation of a planned terrorist attack at Ernst Happel Stadium. The safety of attendees was the primary concern, leading to the decision to cancel all three scheduled shows. Refunds will be automatically issued for all tickets sold.

Austrian police made two arrests in connection to the alleged terror plot targeting Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour concerts in Vienna. Vienna’s State Police Director and Police Chief confirmed the arrests, with one of the suspects being a 19-year-old individual with alleged ties to ISIS. Authorities revealed that the suspects had made specific plans online to carry out an attack during Swift’s residency in the Austrian capital. During a raid at the 19-year-old’s residence, various chemical substances were found, prompting investigations into their potential use in bomb-making.

Despite the arrests and heightened security measures, Swift’s concerts in Vienna are set to proceed as planned. Attendees should anticipate delays in entering and exiting Ernst Happel Stadium. Swift, who kicked off her Eras Tour in March 2023, is scheduled to perform in Vienna on August 8, 9, and 10, as part of the European leg of her tour.

The threat level has been deemed minimal, and there are no current plans to cancel the concerts. Swift has not publicly addressed the situation, focusing on delivering her three-hour show that showcases her entire discography. The European leg of the tour began in Paris in May and will conclude with five concerts at London’s Wembley Stadium next week.

Swift’s Vienna concerts mark the penultimate stop on the European leg before she returns to North America for performances in various cities. The Eras Tour is set to conclude in December, following a successful run that has seen Swift incorporate unique musical medleys and acoustic performances into each show.
