NEW YORK — The 19th-century Manhattan townhouse that served as the inspiration for Taylor Swift’s 2019 song, “Cornelia Street,” is on the rental market.
The historic West Village property, located at 23 Cornelia St., is available for $45,000 a month, according to Architectural Digest.
Built in 1870, the four-bedroom, seven-bathroom carriage house spans three stories with about 5,500 square feet of living space. The home also has a 30-foot-long indoor swimming pool and a lounge area with a fireplace.
Swift, who now lives in Tribeca, rented the home in 2016 while renovating her current space.
The 11-time Grammy winner wrote “Cornelia Street,” which details her time there in the early days of her relationship with her current lover, English actor Joe Alwyn. The electro-pop track is featured on Swift’s seventh studio opus, “Lovers,” and talks of the “sacred new beginning” in the place she rented on the West Village street.
The property last sold for $11.5 million in 2019.The space is currently being used as an immersive showroom by Italian furniture firm Zanotta, according to Architectural Digest.
The Cornelia Street rental was the rare property to avoid the stream of stalking incidents Swift endured in recent years.
In April 2021, a man was charged with criminal trespass for allegedly trying to force his way into Swift’s Franklin St. apartment. Another man was arrested in 2019 after he used a ladder to climb up to the terrace of her Franklin St. pad — shortly after serving time for a 2018 break-in attempt there.
That same year, a fan broke into her beachfront Rhode Island mansion, telling police that he took off his shoes at the door to be “polite.” In 2017, a fan accused of stalking Swift was arrested for loitering outside her apartment and had spent time on the building’s roof deck.

Last January, a man was charged with drunken driving after slamming into the front of the Tribeca property.
“You get enough stalkers trying to break into your house and you kind of start prepping for bad things,” she Swift wrote in a 2019 essay for Elle. “Every day I try to remind myself of the good in the world, the love I’ve witnessed, and the faith I have in humanity. We have to live bravely in order to truly feel alive, and that means not being ruled by our greatest fears.”
