Taylor Swift 's fans have asked the singer to address her rumoured boyfriend Matty Healy 's past controversies in an impassioned open letter.
The 1975 frontman, who is said to be in a new romance with the Shake It Off singer since the start of the month, has hit the headlines in the past for making a slew of bigoted remarks.
And in a now-viral Twitter letter named the #SpeakUpNow campaign, 33-year-old hitmaker Taylor has been urged to "reflect on the impact of your own and your associates' behavior and engage in genuine reflection."
Taylor has been asked to give more than "more than a simple apology" on behalf of the British singer's controversial behaviour with the statement beginning: "As concerned fans, we are writing to express our disappointment regarding recent events.
"You have recently been seen with and welcomed to your stage Matty Healy, the frontman of The 1975. He has been involved in acts and controversies that deeply trouble us."
The letter went on to highlight the controversies Matty has reportedly found himself in.
The letter went on to acknowledge that Taylor had the right to her "own choices and form relationships," but due to her status in society, should "challenge harmful ideologies and inspire followers to join [her] in creating a more just and equitable world."
"Your voice holds tremendous power, and right now, your silence is palpable. This silence sends a message of indifference, particularly to the fans who have supported you."
Taylor was once again urged to use her platform to "advocate for inclusivity, celebrate diversity and promote empathy and understanding."
"Change takes time, but we hope to see you actively engage in this process of personal and social transformation. Let this be the turning point where you become a force for positive change and a catalyst for healing."
The social media letter won a legion of support, with many fans revealing they had cancelled their orders for the July re-release of Taylor's 2010 album Speak Now, while others also announced they had sold their tickets to her tour.
One person tweeted: "I sold my tix to #TaylorSwiftTheErasTour at @GilletteStadium."
They added: "This is unacceptable. #SpeakUpNow."
Mirror US have contacted Taylor and Matty's representatives for comment.
British musician Matty has been at the centre of many controversies, which have resurfaced. In February, he appeared on The Adam Friedland Show podcast and talked about the time he masturbated to porn of 'brutalised' women after a party. He has also made headlines for kissing fans at his shows.
Rumours of a romance between Taylor and Matty began to circulate earlier this month, just weeks after news broke of Taylor and Joe Alwyn's split after six years together.
