Taylor Swift receives honorary doctorate from New York University

Taylor Swift donned a cap and gown to receive an honorary doctorate from New York University in the Yankee Stadium this week.

The All Too Well singer posted a video of herself on social media all dressed up and ready to go before the ceremony earlier on Wednesday.

The adorable clip showed her -in classic Taylor Swift music video fashion- looking out the window of a car heading to New York.

“Wearing a cap and gown for the very first time,” she captioned the post. “See you soon NYU.”

She also delivered the commencement speech for the graduates of NYU ‘s class of 2022.

The university already offers a course on the 11-time Grammy-winning artist.

The Clive Davis Institute has a course on the singer’s music career, the legacy of pop songwriters, her controversies, youth and the politics in contemporary pop music.

The curriculum includes her growth as an artist and how she impacted social media and the music industry although she didn’t have a direct role in its creation.

Taylor has wanted this doctorate for a while as she revealed she was jealous of her pal Ed Sheeran for receiving one before her.

In her Q&A series with Vogue, Taylor was asked: “What’s one goal you’re determined to achieve in your lifetime?”

She responded: “I really want an honorary doctorate degree because Ed Sheeran has one and I feel like he looks down on me now because I don’t have one.”

Taylor has spent a majority of her time out of the limelight after releasing Red (Taylor's Version) back in November.
