Taylor Swift makes shock appearance at 1975 gig as Matty Healy brings star on stage

Taylor Swift shocked fans on Thursday night as she joined The 1975 on stage at their show at London's O2 Arena and performed her song Anti‐Hero live for the first time.

The 33-year-old singer-songwriter made a surprise appearance as the band continued the UK leg of their At Their Very Best tour.

Frontman Matty Healy brought Taylor out on stage where she asked: "Is it alright if I sing?" before playing her hit Anti-Hero.

She followed it up with a cover of The 1975's song The City from their self-titled debut album.

Taylor's fans rushed to Twitter to share their delight at the star's special guest performance, with one person declaring: "THIS IS THE BEST THING EVER."

"Her first time performing it live omg," wrote another. A third fan tweeted: "IM NEVER GETTING OVER THISSS."

"It's me, hi, the crying mess on the floor, it's me," someone else penned referencing Taylor's popular hit.

Other fans were gutted they had missed out on the performance, as one person wrote: "Screaming crying throwing up why couldn’t this have happened in the US."

"Now my sister who doesn’t even like Taylor has just seen her live and I am in bed. Why is life so unfair? Never been more forward about admitting just how jealous I am," added another fan.

Last year, Matty revealed how his band worked on Taylor’s hit album Midnights but the songs never made the final cut.

"We actually worked a bit on that but then the version of it never came out," he revealed in an interview with KROQ's Klein/Ally Show for Audacy's DTS Sound Space in November.

"It was for reasons that are not to be criticised," Matty added. "She's amazing."

Taylor will be embarking on her own later this year, which will be her first US stadium tour in five years.

Announcing the tour news on social media, Taylor shared a tour poster with the caption: "I’m enchanted to announce my next tour: Taylor Swift The Eras Tour, a journey through the musical eras of my career (past & present!).

"The first leg of the tour will be in stadiums across the US, with international dates to be announced as soon as we can!"

Taylor will be joined by a number of popular artists, including Paramore, Haim, Phoebe Bridgers and Gracie Abrams. Also joining her will be beabadoobee, girl in red, Muna, Gayle and Owenn.

The 27-date run includes other stadium stops in Las Vegas, Arlington, Texas, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Chicago and Los Angeles, where the U.S. leg wraps on August 5 2023.

Taylor's last stadium tour was back in 2018 to promote her album Reputation.
