A popular Taylor Swift song has sparked a TikTok trend amid speculation about her break-up with Joe Alwyn.
High Infidelity, from her album Midnights, explores the final days of a broken relationship. Despite its release six months ago, one set of lyrics in particular has sparked a new wave of interest in the song.
In recent days, many TikTokers posted short clips of themselves singing the line: “Do you really want to know where I was April 29th?” In contrast to Taylor creating a mystery behind the significance of this date, many users have been sharing the mundane tasks they have done on this date.

These have ranged from simply being in bed to watching TikToks and ignoring texts from friends to come out. Some have described it as an unofficial holiday, wishing a “Happy April 29 to all those who observe”.
With an increased focus on these lyrics, many fans have argued there is a connection between the date and her ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn. It was confirmed last month that Taylor had broke-up with the English-born actor after six years of dating.
After fans learnt of the pair’s break-up, the meaning of April 29 has only grown in significance amongst Taylor’s fandom. They reportedly met for the first time at Gigi Hadid’s 21st birthday party, which occurred on April 28, 2016 but photos emerged from the gathering a day later.
Taylor and Joe began dating just over a year later in May 2017. In October last year, she confirmed that another song, Lavender Haze, was about Joe.
She said: "In my relationship, for six years we've had to dodge weird rumours, tabloid stuff, and we just ignore it. This song is sort of about the act of ignoring that stuff to protect the real stuff.”
Taylor is currently touring the US. No UK performances have been announced, but her official website has asked fans to “stay tuned for international updates”.
