Taylor Swift has won Video of the Year at the MTV VMAs for the third year in a row, and has thanked boyfriend Travis Kelce in a heartwarming acceptance speech.
Swift won the award for her song “Fortnight” featuring Post Malone, who she also thanked in the speech.
“Directing this video and putting it together and writing it was the most wonderful experience and that is because of all the people I got to make it with,” she said.
Swift noted that while the video “seems very sad”, it was actually very fun to make because her boyfriend was in the studio while they were shooting.
“When I’d finish a take and we’d say cut and we’d be done with a take I’d always hear someone cheering form across the studio and that one person was my boyfriend Travis,” she said.
“Everything this man touches turns to happiness and fun and magic.”
Video of the Year was one of just seven awards Swift collected out of her 12 nominations at this year’s VMAs. She also won Artist of the Year for the second year in a row, Best Pop, Best Direction, Best Editing, Song of Summer and Best Collaboration.
After carrying home a wheelbarrow full of awards at this year’s MTV VMAs, Swift is now the most decorated artist in the awards show’s history with 30 wins under her belt — and counting.
Making history at this year’s VMAs with *another* Video of the Year win is a full-circle moment for the music icon, whose first win back in 2009 was overshadowed by the now-infamous Kanye West interruption.
Kelce was unable to attend the MTV VMAs alongside his history-making girlfriend due to conflicting schedules as the NFL season begins for the Super Bowl-winning Kansas City Chiefs. But I guess that’s just the sacrifice you need to make when you and your partner are simultaneously at the top of your respective careers.
It truly is Taylor Swift’s world and we’re just living in it.
