Scooter Braun has urged Donald Trump to "shake it off" after the former President shared his vitriol against Taylor Swift.
On Sunday, the former president, the Republican candidate in November’s election, went on the offensive against Swift, just days after she endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris.
He took to Truth Social, where he declared in caps: "I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!"
Swift backed Harris for president just moments after last week's presidential debate wrapped up.
The singer also encouraged her followers to register to vote.
The move drove more than 400,000 visitors to the vote.gov website in under 24 hours.
Harris was widely praised for her performance against Trump and in polls has emerged as the winner of the contentious showdown.
On Monday, September 16, pop manager Braun, who has a long and contentious history with Swift, 34, appeared to defend her.
Braun responded by posting an Instagram Story in support of Kamala Harris, referencing Swift’s hit song Shake It Off. He wrote, "Shake it off Donald. Kamala 2024," aligning himself with Swift.
Swifties were left stunned and delighted by the move.
The unexpected show of support from Braun has left fans puzzled. One Reddit user commented, "A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one!" Another wrote, "It's actually a hilarious clapback," while others called the situation "Shakespearean."
In 2019, Braun's company, Ithaca Holdings, acquired Big Machine, Swift's former record label, in a $300 million deal. This gave him control over Swift’s first six albums, something that Swift openly criticised.
In a post on Tumblr, at the time she wrote: "For years I asked, pleaded for a chance to own my work. Instead I was given an opportunity to sign back up to Big Machine Records and ‘earn’ one album back at a time, one for every new one I turned in.
"I walked away because I knew once I signed that contract, Scott Borchetta would sell the label, thereby selling me and my future," she added.
"I had to make the excruciating choice to leave behind my past. Music I wrote on my bedroom floor and videos I dreamed up and paid for from the money I earned playing in bars, then clubs, then arenas, then stadiums."
Swift has since re-recorded all the tracks that Braun got hold of and named them, Taylor's Version.
