Taylor Swift cardboard cut-out set to STAY in Manchester despite owner moving home

Manchester’s iconic Taylor Swift cardboard cut-out looks set to STAY in the city, despite her owner moving to Sheffield. Fans feared for the future of the replica pop singer after owner Red Redmond announced they were moving out of their Castlefield flat.

‘Tram Taylor’ — as she’s known — has been a friendly face for commuters on the Metrolink as they go from Cornbrook to the city centre for several years.

However, Taylor’s future was thrown into jeopardy on Wednesday, as Red, 32, announced they are moving to Sheffield next week. Fans were ‘grieving’ at the news — but Red has told the Manchester Evening News that there is hope yet, both in the short and long-term.

“I’m going to be renting this flat out, but it won’t be on the market for a couple of months,” they explained. “I have lived here for 10 years so it just needs some TLC. She will definitely stay for the foreseeable.”

Taylor’s future might be more secure past the spring, too. Red continued: “I have had so much interest in my DMs from people who want to rent the flat and keep her there.

“I am very happy that she’s become a part of people’s lives for so long. I aim to do everything I can so she can stay. It’s been nice to see people speak about her, every year she seems to bring a lot of joy to people.”

Red was gifted Taylor by colleagues from The Leadmill nightclub, in Sheffield. “We have done several Taylor Swift club nights and it was left over,” they recalled. “Everyone in the office knew I was a big fan.”

Red brought Taylor back on the train in 2017. That was the start a Love Story which Manchester isn’t ready to see end, just yet.
