Taylor Momsen has shared a health update after she was bitten by a bat while performing in Seville, Spain over the weekend.
The Gossip Girl star was performing her band The Pretty Reckless’ track Witches Burn on stage when the crowd began shouting to alert her about the animal landing on her thigh.
Footage captures the 30-year-old singer, oblivious to the situation, asking the crowd what they were trying to point out.
She said: “You guys are pointing at something, and I don’t know what you’re saying,” before shrugging and continuing to walk around the stage.
Then, she notices the creature and calmly asks for assistance removing it.
“There’s a f***ing flying bat on my leg right now, can someone help me please?” Momsen said into the microphone, before throwing her head back in laughter. “I must really be a witch!”
In the video, a staff member is seen approaching Momsen and gently shaking her dress to encourage the bat to fly away.
Amidst the commotion, a member of the audience, speaking Portuguese, praises Momsen for staying “very professional”.
Following the incident, the actress-turned-singer posted the clip on her Instagram on Saturday and revealed she has to undergo “rabie shots for the next two weeks”.
She penned alongside the video: “In the moment I was performing and had no idea until the incredible crowd kept screaming and pointing… he was cute, but yes he bit me… so rabies shots for the next two weeks.”
The American star then thanked the hospital staff who gave her the affectionate nickname of “Batgirl”, writing: “More footage to come… that’s one for the books!!!!”
The following day, Momsen shared another video of her performances, as part of the support act for AC/DC, and noted the second night was, fortunately, bat-free, adding: “PS, rabies shots are NOT fun.”
She also took to social media to share a snapshot from backstage, where she could be seen standing beside a hand-drawn sign that humorously declares the area as a "bat-free zone."
Momsen wrote: “OK, so AC/DC has the best crew ever, love you guys.”
