Taylor-Clarke, Naismith and Conway: Bristol City injury news ahead of Middlesbrough test

Nigel Pearson confirms Omar Taylor-Clarke will be a doubt ahead of Middlesbrough but Kal Naismith should return to the matchday squad having recovered from a calf injury.

Taylor-Clarke was substituted after 21 minutes in the victory over Stoke City after receiving treatment for a calf issue. He was replaced by Andy King and the experienced midfielder is likely to start to take on Michael Carrick's promotion-chasers.

Pearson is hopeful of Tommy Conway's involvement after he came off on 45 minutes at the Bet365 Stadium. His half-time substitution was premeditated as he continues to build his fitness from three months on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.

However, he took a knock to the Achilles in the first half which almost saw Harry Cornick replace him around the 30-minute mark with the striker stripped and ready to come on. Pearson resisted the temptation for an early change, but his knock may impact his minutes in Monday's fixture.

The City manager said: "Tommy was coming off at half-time anyway, he took a heavy knock on his Achilles. Tommy should be okay, Omar, I'm not sure about.

"He's got a tight calf so we' 'll have to see tomorrow. We took him off cause he's a young lad and if he's complaining about a tight calf then we need to do something pretty sharpish.

"We'll see how that is, it's a bit easier now. Andy King was very good when he went on."

Naismith could also be in line for his first appearance since the beginning of February, having pulled his calf in the away victory over Preston. The 31-year-old, who has missed the last 12 matches, has been training since the return from the international break but Pearson has been eager to proceed with caution, given it's his second calf injury of the season.

Pearson also suggested Tomas Kalas could also return to the bench after injuring his knee in the defeat against Cardiff last month.

He added: "Kal Naismith might be back for the bench and Tomas will train this week so maybe he will be available, if not for Monday then hopefully for next week."

Pearson ruled out Alex Scott's involvement in his pre-match press conference on Wednesday as he continues to recover from a minor knee ligament injury. He said last week: "Alex Scott is making good progress so again, not for this weekend but hopefully afterward, he'll be available."
