Taylor Booth has already told Manchester United what they want to hear in midfielder search

Manchester United are once again being linked with FC Utrecht midfielder Taylor Booth - who has already made his feelings for the Premier League clear.

The USA international provided six goal contributions in the Eredivisie this season, having made the move over to the Netherlands last summer from Bayern Munich. United boss Erik ten Hag managed Booth's current club between 2015 and 2017, with Ajax snapping him up from Utrecht.

Booth - the league's Player of the Month for November - turned down a new deal with German giants Bayern, before signing for Utrecht in order to get first team football under his belt. With Chelsea rejecting United's third bid for midfielder Mason Mount, the club are reportedly looking at alternative options - despite having agreed personal terms with the England international.

And so Booth's name is suddenly back on the scene, along with Brighton and Hove Albion star Moises Caicedo and Ajax attacker Mohammed Kudus. ESPN report that United - who believe Chelsea are pushing it in the Mount negotiations - have made enquiries about the availability of other targets.

Should a move for Booth materialise, convincing him to head on over to the Premier League should not be an issue. The technical midfielder spoke about his footballing 'dreams' earlier this year, saying: "I'm flattered if the national teams of USA or Italy think about me, or clubs in the Premier League, La Liga or Serie A," he said earlier this season. "Since I was a little boy playing soccer in the basement of our home in Eden, I've always said you can't dream big enough."

The Manchester Evening News understands that United are prepared to move on from their pursuit of Chelsea midfielder Mount, with at least four other midfield targets to turn to. Insiders believe any addition would be "acceptable" but Mount is manager Erik ten Hag's preferred option.
