Tay bridge crash between car and tractor towing trailer leaves person in hospital

A person has been rushed to hospital after a tractor trailer overturned on the Tay Bridge following a crash.

Emergency services raced to the A92, which links Dundee to Fife, after the alarm was raised at around 5.55pm on Wednesday. The crash involved a car and a tractor towing a trailer.

Ambulance crews attended and the driver of the car was rushed to Ninewells Hospital for treatment. Their condition is currently unknown.

The incident came amid reports of high winds during rush hour last night. The road was closed for over four hours while the vehicles were recovered. It reopened at around 10.15pm.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of a crash involving a car and a tractor towing a trailer on the A92 at the Tay Bridge at 5.55pm on Wednesday, November 2.

“One person from the car was taken to Ninewells Hospital by ambulance.

“The road reopened around 10.15pm after the vehicles were recovered.”
