A Dublin taxi driver is left with serious injuries and is out of work following an alleged assault in Clondalkin.
The incident which happened on Tuesday, January 3, left the 58-year-old man with life-changing injuries including a broken jaw on both sides of his face after he was allegedly repeatedly punched. It happened at the Boot Road at Newland's Cross.
It allegedly happened after a cyclist knocked the mirror off the taxi driver's car and when the driver got out of his vehicle to see what happened he was attacked and assaulted. After he dropped to the ground the alleged attacker continued to kick him in the head.

The grandfather ended up hospitalised in St James's Hospital for five days and had three plates put in his face according to a family member. They told Dublin Live: "There was numerous witnesses at the scene as one took a short video and another took some photos of the man so we are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information on the person who carried out the assault to please come forward and contact Clondalkin Garda Station.
"The guy had a Dublin accent and was over 6 foot in height and he was also on a Carrera crossfire green and black bike. He left the scene on his bike."
A garda spokesman told Dublin Live: "Gardaí are investigating an alleged assault which occurred on the afternoon of 3 January 2023 at Newlands Cross in Clondalkin. A man in his 50s later received medical treatment for his injuries. Investigations are ongoing."
