Love Island finalist Tasha Ghouri has broken her silence on the treatment she received in the villa that left her in tears and sparked thousands of Ofcom complaints.
The 23-year-old model and dancer made it all the way to the final of the 2022 competition alongside 27-year-old boyfriend Andrew Le Page.
But her time in the villa was far from easy - as Tasha frequently found herself being over-analysed and targeted by some of the boys in the villa.
Things most prominently came to a head when the contestants played Snog, Marry, Pie where Tasha was targeted by three male contestants who slapped pies in her face and subjected her to unkind comments.
The incident sparked some viewers to complain to Ofcom and others to discuss if the show was promoting misogyny.
Speaking for the first time about what happened on the show, Tasha told Fabulous magazine: “I knew I was gonna get pies. I was ready for it, but it was more about the comments after that.
“There’s a level of banter and there’s [that].
“I was standing there thinking: ‘Keep your head held high and don’t show a reaction.’ There’s a clip and you can still see it in my face [how upset I was].
"It was a lot - I felt backed into a corner. It’s such an intense environment and hard to escape. You’re stuck in there together. I was ready to walk out.”
Viewers complained that Luca Bish and Dami Hope in particular targeted Tasha too often - accusing her of being a ‘game player’.
Other contestants defended Tasha after they exited the show - with Billy Brown and Josh Le Grove saying they thought contestants went too far.
Speaking further about her time on the show, Tasha added: “A part of me wishes I had put my foot down a bit more. I’m quite an emotional person and I probably did cry a lot. That’s how I’ve always been. I wear my heart on my sleeve. I did get a lot of hate for that.”
In her wide reaching interview, Tasha confirmed that her romance with Andrew is going strong and the couple are house hunting for a love nest in London.
The reality stars have been spending time in Tasha’s home together in the capital but hope to find a space for them both to live in together.
Tasha last week explained during a Q&A session with fans via Instagram : "We are looking for a place to live, we haven't found one yet, but we have found quite a few that we like and we're going to go and see them.”
