A gunman remains at large after a man was killed in an apparent targeted shooting at a home in Hobart's northern suburbs.
The 32-year-old died at the Bridgewater house not long after emergency services were called around 1am on Tuesday.
"Our initial investigations indicated this was a targeted incident and that the two parties were known to each other," Tasmania Police Acting Inspector Kelly Taylor told reporters.
"There is an extensive investigation underway to locate the offender. We're pretty certain it's one person at this point in time, one suspect."
The man was shot in the upper body and the weapon has not been found.
Several people who were inside the house when the shooting occurred were unharmed.
A man and a woman believed to be linked to the incident are in custody and assisting police inquiries.
Police have searched surrounding suburbs and long grass near the house and believe someone could be harbouring the alleged offender.
"I would encourage anyone doing that, and the offender themselves, to present themselves to police," Insp Taylor said.
