Pupils, staff and parents at Maxwellton Primary in East Kilbride celebrated all things Scottish with their popular Burns-themed assembly.
The fun-filled event is held every year, with P7 pupils helping to organise it.
There was tartan galore, poems, songs and the customary piping in of the haggis.

Primary 7 even composed their own poems, which were of a very high standard.

Meanwhile, P1-P6 learned about a Scottish author and practiced a poem then the best person was picked and all P1-7 were presented with a certificate and prize.

The assembly was very well attended and lots of lovely hampers were donated by parents as prizes for raffles.

The children had a great time reciting their poems and singing their songs.

Some of the songs included favourites such as Loch Lomond, Auld Lang Syne, Caledonia, The Wee Kircudbright Centipede and, of course, Flower of Scotland.

The event was one of many held over the week to celebrate Scotland’s national Bard with schools, community groups, and various organisations across East Kilbride and Strathaven joining in the fun.
