Faithful Tartan Army footsoldiers have been forced to take up to SIX flights to see their faltering heroes take on Armenia tonight.
Despite the 3-0 drubbing in Dublin, fans arrived in the capital city of Yerevan by various gruelling routes to see Scotland in the Nations League.
And some were stunned to discover they did get a trip to Qatar after all – with the controversial World Cup host nation used to re-route flights cancelled through ongoing staffing issues with airlines.
Graeme Baxter, of the Dunfermline Tartan Army, was among a contingent from Fife to head to Armenia after braving the thumping in Dublin.
His group travelled from Scotland to Ireland, then on to Poland and through to Armenia, taking 18 hours before touching down in Yerevan.
Graeme said yesterday: “We left Dublin at 8am on Sunday, through Poznan, Warsaw and arrived in Yerevan 6am local time this morning. It was a dreadful performance in Dublin and an awful result, but there’s plenty games left in this campaign.”
Posting a pic of his group with a round of drinks, he added: “A few hours kip and it’s time for a beer overlooking Republic Square.”
Another fan posted on Twitter on their re-routing to Doha in Qatar after an Air France flight was cancelled.
The fan wrote: “Thanks to Air France over booking our flight to Armenia, we have been given compensation for not being allowed on the flight and are now going via Doha.
“Looks like we’ll be the only Scotland supporters on a Scotland trip in Qatar this year.”
Hibs fan Jack Morrison, from Edinburgh, also made the long trip from Ireland to Armenia with his mates.
He tweeted: “5 flights 1 train and a 5000-mile round trip for Armenia away.”
Scotland hope to get their bid to win their group in the UEFA Nations League back on track tonight.
