Tariq Woolen on giving back: ‘It’s way bigger than me or football’

The Seattle Seahawks have a young cornerback who is a star on the field… and off it as well. Rookie sensation Tariq Woolen made his name known as a lockdown corner for the Seahawks, and with that recognition he is certainly deciding to give back.

On Thursday, Woolen traveled to the small coastal town of Aberdeen, WA to surprise students. There, he gave away 100 pairs of signed shoes to culinary arts students.

It is certainly encouraging to see how a young man from a small school is not letting rising star power in the NFL prevent him from staying grounded. There is no doubt the impact of such a seemingly small action might have on these students.

Woolen took the league by storm last year, and appears to be yet another diamond in the rough the Seattle Seahawks discovered late in the draft. Former Seahawks legend Richard Sherman has always been high on Woolen, and with good reason. The former USTA star had 60 total tackles, 15 pass defenses and six interceptions in his rookie year.
