Target remote jobs: What type of work and how much does it pay?

What is Target?

Target (TGT) -) is one of the largest retailers in the U.S., and its stores sell a variety of goods, ranging from clothes and bedding to groceries, TV sets and auto accessories. The retailer, founded in 1960 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, has almost 2,000 stores across the country. In 2022, Target, which has traded publicly on the New York Stock Exchange since 1967 and is a component of the S&P 500 stock index, generated almost $2.8 billion in profit on $109 billion in sales.

How many employees does Target have?

As of January 28, 2023, Target employed about 440,000 people in full-time, part-time, and seasonal positions. Jobs in the back and front office ran the gamut from cashiers and inventory specialists to warehouse managers and executives at the C-suite level.

Restrictions on work have been lifted at many businesses as the COVID-19 pandemic eased, but some companies such as Target offer remote jobs.

What remote jobs are available at Target?

A list of available positions at Target can be found at the company’s jobs search portal. In order to filter for remote positions only, type “remote” in the keyword field during your search. Because retail is primarily a front-facing line of work — that is, most positions involve dealing with customers and at stores in person — the number of available positions for remote work is limited. As of this article’s last update, the company’s job search portal only listed 22 fully remote open positions in the U.S.

As work COVID-19 work restrictions eased, many companies like Target gradually began bringing employees back into their offices five days a week. That being said, Target does offer certain positions that are a mix of remote and in-office work that it calls Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement, which means work can be performed both onsite and virtually. Examples of remote and hybrid positions offered by the retailer include UX Design Project Manager, Packaging-Principal Value Engineer, and Pets Sourcing Manager.

How much do Target’s remote jobs pay?

Jobs posted for remote work at Target are typically above the national median salary of $57,200, based on U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data. For example, in an October 2023 jobs search, the annual salary for a sourcing manager in Target’s pets division was listed at a range of $67,600 to $121,700. A Principal Product Manager Job that appeared in the same search had a listed salary range of $141,600 to $254,900.

Target does offer remote work, but some jobs have certain restrictions.

What Target jobs are online?

As of October 2023, most of the available positions for remote work or a hybrid of remote and in-office work are relegated to back-office positions. These range from software engineers and designers for user experience to the legal department and marketing.

Are there restrictions to working remotely?

The requirements, duties, and expectations that come with working remotely vary by job, whether it is full-time or part-time. For certain positions within the company, Target prohibits working remotely from certain states for more than 30 days in a calendar year. For certain positions, states from where Target prohibits working remotely include Oklahoma, Indiana, Florida, and Iowa.
