Rimzim Dadu celebrated 15 years of the brand by showcasing an immersive textile exhibit and runway show in collaboration with Kiran Nadar Museum of Art on the 27th of August in New Delhi.
Over the years, textiles innovation has been at the heart of the brand’s identity and since the brand’s inception, Rimzim has weaved a niche for herself by constantly pushing the boundaries of innovation. Critics and media have described Rimzim Dadu’s clothes as “pieces of art”, “heirloom pieces that transcend generations” and “futuristic”.
For this year’s showcase, each look was inspired by the designer’s rich repository of textiles innovation which has mainly been anchored in her fascination with cord work. Dadu’s work does not follow fashion trends, which is evident as her pieces from the archive are still relevant even after a decade. The show brought her archival pieces back to the ramp. The audience also got a glimpse of the details and artistry that go into the making of Rimzim Dadu clothes as artisans display live some of the techniques, including how steel gets transformed into hair-thin wires and then into wearable clothes.
The Kiran Nadar Museum of Art has been actively expanding its repertoire to explore programming that celebrates art and culture. Through this collaboration, the museum aims to expand its reach and tap into new and diverse audiences, and build on its mission to grow a museum-going culture and encourage viewers to explore different aspects of art, at the crossroads of culture and performance.
This is the first physical event in the popular digital series Art x Fashion at KNMA, with the goal of sparking discussion about art, design, and fashion.The presentation, which is part of #WeekendsAtKNMA, is an attempt to broaden the museum's already extensive calendar of events while also celebrating art and all forms of creative expression. By expanding on its mission to grow a museum-going culture and encourage viewers to explore different aspects of art, KNMA hopes to broaden its reach and attract new and diverse audiences.
Amama Jewels curated a special line of handcrafted jewelry for the runway show. Amama believes that every piece of jewelry has a story associated with it, and each one of its pieces is carefully and intricately handcrafted by local artisans, making it the perfect jewelry partner for the 15-year anniversary show.
Phenomenal Actor Vijay Verma marked his debut on the runway for Rimzim Dadu and Kiran Nadar Museum of Art, and opened the show. Vijay wore a metal overlay jacket with signature hair-thin metal wires styled with a metal obi metal, a v-neck shirt, and wide-legged pants.
Tara Sutaria was the showstopper at the runway showcase wore a signature cord leaves lehenga ensemble with a cord detail halter neck blouse. Tara also adorned a SubRosa Betel ring and SubRosa danglers by Amama Jewels.
