British tennis player Tara Moore has protested her innocence after being provisionally suspended for failing a drugs test.

Moore, Britain’s top-ranked doubles star, tested positive for Nandrolone metabolites and Boldenone, both prohibited substances according to the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), at the Copa Colsanitas Open in Bogota, Colombia in April.

The 29-year-old was handed a provisional suspension by the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) that began on May 27 and she now has the opportunity to request that her B sample is analysed.

Moore is one of Britain’s top doubles specialists and currently has a career-high ranking of 83. She has won a total of 26 titles on the ITF Women’s World Tennis Tour, 17 in doubles and nine in singles competition.

Taking to social media after details of the failed test and ban emerged, Moore insisted she had never knowingly taken a banned substance in her career.

“I am investigating how the positive result could have occurred and look forward to proving that I am a clean athlete,” she said.

“I am deeply saddened by the provisional suspension and hope to be back on the court as soon as possible.”
