Taoiseach to visit Ukraine after recent phonecall with President Zelensky

Taoiseach Micheál Martin is expected to visit Ukraine on Wednesday, the Irish Mirror has confirmed.

The visit comes after he was invited by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during a phone call recently.

It’s understood Mr Martin is travelling to eastern Europe today ahead of his visit tomorrow.

The Irish Mirror reported that the discussions about a visit were underway but due to security reasons, the details of the trip were kept tight.

It’s expected Mr Martin will visit Kyiv tomorrow and is travelling to the war-torn country today.

He is expected to visit Kyiv and surrounding towns to witness the destruction caused by Russian forces.
