Tammy Abraham to Arsenal transfer latest: £80m deal, Roma striker speaks out, Chelsea claim

Tammy Abraham has been in exceptional form since signing for Roma from Chelsea last summer, and his form has led to speculation linking him with a return to the Premier League.

Abraham moved to the Serie A giants at the beginning of the season in a deal worth £34m, and he's not disappointed under Jose Mourinho's tutelage. With 15 top-flight goals so far in his debut campaign, the 24-year-old has taken the league by storm and is now one of the hottest properties in Italy.

His incredible form has led to suggestions that he could return to the Premier League in the near future, with the Blues said to be interested in re-signing him. North London duo Arsenal and Tottenham and Manchester United and Manchester City have all also been linked with a move for the England international.

With that in mind, football.london has taken a look at the latest rumours linking him with a transfer away from Roma.

Abraham on potential transfer

Speaking ahead of Roma's Europa League semi final against Leicester on Thursday night, Abraham spoke about a potential transfer, keeping the door open to a move. When asked about a move away from Roma and the interest shown in him, he said: "I’m happy playing my football. Of course, you hear the little rumours here and there, different people interested, clearly for me I’m doing the right thing if people are watching.

"Give credit to my teammates, the staff, the manager, they have a big part to play in how well I’m doing. For me, like I said, I just want to go all the way and hopefully win a trophy.

"I was born and raised in England, so of course there are many rumours here and there that there’s clubs interested. Like I said, I’m clearly doing something right at Roma if people are interested.

"I just have to stay focused, keep doing my thing, keep playing my football, focus on this competition, where we finish in the league, and we’ll see what happens in the future."

£80m asking price

football.london's Chris Wheatley has provided an update on the potential transfer and has revealed that the striker has been given an £80 million asking price by Roma.

This is the same price as the buy back clause inserted in his contract by Chelsea after he left the club at the end of last season, meaning that any fee can be matched by their Premier League rivals.

Abraham shortlisted

football.london understands that Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus and Abraham are among the shortlisted profiles who could arrive at Emirates Stadium this summer. Jesus, in particular, remains open to leaving the current Premier League champions, with his representative holding talks with Edu throughout the past few months.

Chelsea considering re-signing Abraham amid Manchester United interest

According to the print edition of Il Messaggero, as relayed by The Hard Tackle, Chelsea are thinking about the prospect of re-signing former striker Abraham from Roma just a year after selling him. However, they will face competition from Premier League rivals Manchester United and Tottenham.

Roma's stance amid Tottenham's interest

According to Italian daily Tuttosport, via the Mirror, Roma have no interest in cashing on a player they signed less than a year ago, and neither does former Spurs boss Mourinho, who has managed to build a team around the 24-year-old.

Spurs discussions

The Athletic have reported that agent Jorge Mendes had discussed a potential move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with the England international at the end of the season, with the intention of him becoming Kane's successor should he finally depart the club this summer.

£76m Man United plan

According to Corriere della Sera, via the Express, United are ready to go big in the summer to secure the services of Abraham, despite the forward having a buy-back clause from former club Chelsea in his contract.

The report adds that they'd be willing to pay a transfer fee of £76million, but they could face competition from arch-rivals Manchester City.

Iconic Arsenal duo urge Gunners to sign Abraham

Arsenal legend Nigel Winterburn believes that his former side should look to sign England international Tammy Abraham in the summer amid their continued search for a new striker.

With Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah set to leave the club when their respective contracts come to an end in the summer, football.london understands that Arsenal could target two frontmen this summer.

Winterburn thinks they should turn their attention to Abraham, who has proven he can find the back of the net at the top level. Speaking to FreeSuperTips, he said: "Back in the summer when he was moving, there was a link with Arsenal, I don't know how strong, but he fits into the bill of what Arsenal were trying to do.'

"A young player with huge potential, so my opinion doesn't change that he would have been a great option for Arsenal."

Winterburn isn't the only Arsenal legend who thinks that Abraham will be a good fit at the Emirates, as Ian Wright has admitted that he would've loved to have seen 'The King of Rome' do well in an Arsenal shirt: "Tammy Abraham. The king of Rome," Wright said on his podcast Wrighty's House. The way Tammy has gone over there, he's lit it up."
