Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has applauded Tammy Abraham's decision to leave Chelsea for Roma after Arsenal's interest in the England striker re-emerged.
Abraham, 24, linked up with former-Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho at Roma in the summer for £34million despite interest from Arsenal and has been sensational for the Italian side with 24 goals in 46 appearances.
The Gunners hold an interest in the forward again, with football.london understanding that Abraham will have an €80 million (£67.4 million) price tag. Arsenal are looking to reinforce their attacking options after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's departure to Barcelona while both Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are expected to leave on free transfers this summer.

It is understood that Manchester City's Gabriel Jesus, who has scored five goals in two games, and Abraham are among the shortlisted players who could arrive at Emirates Stadium. Speaking prior to the Foxes' UEFA Europa Conference League semi-final first leg against Abraham and Roma, Rodgers discussed the 24-year-old and his remarkable season so far.
"Just looking at some of the games and looking at his numbers in terms of goals and assists over the course of this season he's done very well, very well," the Leicester boss said. "He's obviously a threat, he knows the British game as well and we'll have to keep an eye on him."
Before Abraham chose to join Roma in the summer, a move to Arsenal was reported after being deemed surplus to requirements at Chelsea following the return of Romelu Lukaku. However, with the Belgian struggling to fit into Thomas Tuchel's plans this season, the move has been a success for Abraham.
And Rodgers believes the call to move from England to Italy was the correct one. He said: "For him it looks a great decision. Over the last few years, we've seen some of our young British talents going into Europe to play and get regular game time.
"It was obviously difficult for him at Chelsea to play as much as he wanted to, but he had the courage to go away go into a different culture, a different life, and a different style of football and he's shown up very, very well."
Roma's tie with Leicester is the first time the two sides will meet and provides Abraham with a chance to showcase his talents in his home nation.
