Tammy Abraham makes Roma admission but refuses to rule Chelsea return as transfer decision looms

It's now over a year since Tammy Abraham left Chelsea to join Roma. The striker has thrived in Italy, scoring 29 goals in 63 appearances under the management of Jose Mourinho.

It was a difficult decision for Abraham to leave the club that he joined at the age of seven, and it was also a tough decision for Chelsea to wave goodbye to one of their own - particularly as he boasted a decent record of a goal every 2.7 games at the Blues. For that reason, the two clubs agreed on putting a buyback clause in the contract, which becomes active in July once Abraham has completed his second season at Roma.

Chelsea can re-sign the 25-year-old for £68 million, which could appeal to the Blues. Chelsea have already reached an agreement to sign Christopher Nkunku next summer, but Graham Potter and Todd Boehly are likely to add plenty of other names to the squad.

The Blues made a marquee signing in the striker department on deadline day, bringing in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Barcelona. He is already being linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge, with Paris Saint-Germain reportedly interested. When asked about the buyback clause, Abraham insisted he's happy with Roma but didn't rule out a potential move back to Chelsea.

"I'm happy with Roma, and I'm focused on my job here," Abraham told journalist Ojora Babatunde. "The team is good.

"The manager is good. The city, the fans, I'm happy. Only God knows the future."
