Tamil Nadu: Teachers trained on giving career guidance

MADURAI: More than 150 teacher educators and postgraduate teachers from across Tamil Nadu underwent a career guidance training programme focusing on higher education and employment opportunities. Officials said that the programme was part of preparations to implement the ‘Naan Mudhalvan’ scheme in 6,177 government high and higher secondary schools across the state which aims at providing career guidance for all students studying in Class IX to XII. Work had also been undertaken by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) to develop a handbook as well.

The training was organised at Pillar Centre in NP Kottai, Madurai on Friday and Saturday. It was inaugurated by the commissioner of state school education department, K Nandakumar.

Students and teachers can also access the ‘Naan Mudhalvan’ web portal which provides information on higher education courses and consequent careers, various entrance examinations and opportunities for scholarships or education loans among others. The website can be accessed at https://naanmudhalvan.tnschools.gov.in/home.
