TRICHY: The consecration ceremony for the newly constructed rajagopuram (monumental entrance tower) at the Arulmigu Smayapuram Mariamman temple will be held on July 6. The work on the new eastern entrance tower comprising seven tiers was completed recently. HR&CE department through senior temple priests will conduct holy rituals for commissioning the rajagopuram on Wednesday between 6.45am and 7.25am. Yagasala rituals and recital of abirami anthathi have been planned by the management.
Construction work on the 107ft tall rajagopuram at 6 crores was launched by HR&CE with the support of donors in 2015.
Ministers including municipal administration minister K N Nehru, HR&CE minister P K Sekar Babu and school education minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi are likely to attend the event.
