Tam McManus says Hibs were a "disgrace" and a "joke" as they suffered a second half capitulation at Tynecastle
And he's accused the Hibees of chucking it after going 3-1 down to Hearts in a game they had to win.
Drey Wright gave Shaun Maloney ’s team an early lead in Gorgie, but Andy Halliday restored parity on the stroke of half-time.
Stephen Kingsley turned the game around with an early second half strike before Halliday put the game to bed with his second and Hearts' third before the hour mark.
McManus was not impressed with the attitude displayed by the visitors.
And he fears there could be another Hampden hammering on the cards if his former club play in a similar fashion in this Saturday's Scottish Cup semi-final.
“First and foremost, Hearts deserved to win the game. There’s no doubt about that,” he told PLZ.
“Hibs were the better side in the first half-an-hour, got the goal but needed to get the second one quickly to put Hearts under pressure.
“Hearts then got into the game and missed two great chances, so they could have gone in ahead at half-time.
“Second half, Hibs were a disgrace. Hibs were a joke in the second half. They chucked it.
“When it went to 3-1, they just settled for it. Now there’s a way to get beat in a derby game. I’ve been on the end of big defeats and I’ve handed out big defeats but there’s a way of getting beat and that wasn't good enough.
“I know the manager’s come out and said the exact same thing, and the players. But they've got to get a reaction for Saturday in the cup semi-final, because if they go out and play the way they played in the second half, Hearts will take three or four off them again.
“Something needs to be done. Darren McGregor’s sitting on the bench. Lewis Stevenson’s sitting on the bench; I’d be playing them on Saturday.
“Some of the younger boys at this minute are not good enough to compete against Hearts.
“So he’s got a lot of big decisions to make this week, Shaun Maloney. Because the weekend wasn't good enough, for any Hibs supporter watching that, bar the first 20 minutes.”
McManus also highlighted the difference between the respective strikers on Saturday.
He added: “The two Hearts strikers battered the HIbs back three.
“Hibs had a 19-year-old lad [Elias Melkersen] up front himself and I felt sorry for him. He’s not quite ready to be the number one striker, but they’ve nobody else.
“James Scott has come in and he’s been terrible. Christian Doidge is out injured, Kevin Nisbet is out injured and they’ve sold [Martin] Boyle.
“Shaun needs a good transfer window in the summer but he needs to try and get some performances out of them before the end of the season.”
