Tallaght singer Luke Clerkin and Kilkenny's Bríd Lyons to play Whelan's tonight before tour

A talented Tallaght singer is set to perform in Whelan's tonight before embarking on a tour across the east of the country.

Luke Clerkin has worked with highly renowned producers such as Declan Legge, Gavin Doyle and jaako. Last year, Luke released his successful EP 'Owl Compass' and took part in a fundraising gig for people in Ukraine.

In February, Luke launched his successful Live EP in the Workman's Club with a sold-out show and he is due to perform with Kilkenny singer Bríd Lyons in Whelan's in Dublin city centre from 8pm tonight, Thursday May 25. After the gig, Luke and Bríd will embark on a mini Co-Headline tour at the end of May.

The pair will play dates in John Lee’s Bar in Tullamore on May 26 and Hole in the Wall in Kilkenny on May 27. Talking about the upcoming tour, Luke Clerkin told Dublin Live: "This is a very exciting thing to be doing, as it’s always been a goal of mine to do a tour of Ireland, and it’s amazing to be doing it alongside an incredible artist like Bríd.

"We’ve played a lot together over the last year, sharing stages as individual artists and also joining each other for songs. So it makes sense for this to happen."

Bríd Lyons added: "I'm delighted to be taking to the road after the release of my debut EP. This will not only be my first tour but it will also be my first time headlining in my hometown of Kilkenny. I’m delighted to be doing more shows with Luke after what has been a great year of sharing the stage together."

Tickets for tonight's performance in Whelan cost €11 per person and it is over 18s with ID required. Tickets can be bought online via whelanslive.com
