Tallaght University Hospital is on the look out for volunteers to assist patients in 2023.
Volunteers have a crucial role in helping patients feel at ease during their time under medical care. Typical duties for volunteers in Tallaght Hospital include bringing family members down to the ward, assisting patients with their initial check-in and conducting surveys on people's hospital experiences.
Staff are currently looking for people with four hours availability per week to get involved with their volunteering programme. They are also keen to hear from employers who have workers interested in helping out, either on an individual or team basis.

Existing helpers say they feel a sense in pride in giving back to their local community. Some people say that their own experience in Tallaght shaped their decision to sign up for the volunteering service.
Noel Reynolds, a current volunteer, says: “I was a patient here in the hospital. The nurses, doctors and staff looked after me so well- so in return I came back to help other people.”
