Talking Point: Who are you most looking forward to seeing perform at Glastonbury?

The threat of rain is never far away at Glastonbury Festival (Yui Mok/PA)

Even if you have made no active attempt to read about Glastonbury, it’s seemingly impossible not to know: it’s taking place this weekend, for the first time in person since 2019, with a threat of downpours and thunderstorms, amid a train strike as 200,000 people attempt to get to Somerset. Obligatory preface out of the way.

Those with tickets are already likely to be Worthy Farm-bound, while the rest of us at home are left with the BBC’s coverage, almost certainly to be described as ‘wall to wall’.

The opening night of this year’s Glastonbury (street name: “Glasto”) sees Billie Eilish make history as the festival’s youngest ever solo performer. One for the kids? Well there’s also Arlo Parks, Wet Leg, Wolf Alice and Little Simz on today, so it might be time to get up to date, granddad. Or just make sure you know when TLC are on.

Singalong Saturday features Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds (with fans no doubt there for his new stuff) and Paul McCartney.

Diana Ross plays the legend’s slot on Sunday. Lorde, Elbow and the Pet Shop Boys are also on the bill for the last day, while Kendrick Lamar headlines.

Chances are, you’re going to see some of the coverage over the weekend – and if not, you’re going to hear about it – so it might now be worth picking out who you want to watch.
