The lineup for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee has been announced to much fanfare online, with the likes of Ed Sheeran, Sir Cliff Richard and Bill Bailey getting involved in the biggest celebration of “Britishness” since the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympics. The “People’s Pageant” is to begin on Thursday June 2, and see four days of celebrations that will culminate in an emotional finale outside Buckingham Palace on Sunday of the Bank Holiday weekend.
The festivities will kick off with a Trooping the Colour and a flypast on Thursday, followed by a Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s Catherdal on Friday – with a Platinum Party at the Palace on Saturday likely to be a massive draw for audiences around the world.
The Platinum Jubilee Pageant will have a huge cast of 10,000 made up of more than 6,000 volunteers, 2,750 military personnel, key workers from around the UK and 2,500 members of the general public, as well as those performing over the long weekend.
Ed Sheeran, 31, one of the most famous artists in the world these days, said: “I am looking forward to performing at The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Pageant in June.
Sheeran, who was awarded an MBE in 2017, added: “I’m proud to be part of the celebration and it’s going to be a great opportunity to bring everyone together.”
Some of the other personalities reported to be making an appearance include Gary Lineker, Basil Brush, Sir Mo Farah, Ant & Dec, Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber, Dame Joan Collins and Dame Kelly Holmes.
