We’ve all heard the advice every time the heat gets to these levels.
Go out during the less hot times of the day, and manage the conditions indoors as best you can to stop the warmer air getting in. Avoid creating extra sources of heat – as a sweating Savid Javid is likely lamenting as he combined the metaphorical and physical heat under the spotlight of his press conference today.
Stay hydrated, especially so if consuming alcohol, and wear appropriate clothing to avoid overexposure from the sun: thin, loose clothing and a hat. Fail to do so and risk the effects equivalent to 700 drinks, apparently. Mustn’t forget the hat.
Whether it comes down to managing the discomfort or enjoying it responsibly, no doubt you’ve made some of the mistakes before and resolved to learn your lesson. But your feelings on seeing the forecast featuring a spiky yellow icon and a number climbing above 30 – that’s doubtful to ever change.
