JRPGs rarely cross over into mainstream appeal, but Tales of Arise has done it.
On Thursday, Bandai Namco announced that Tales of Arise has sold 2 million copies since it came out in September of last year. That makes it the franchise’s third-best-selling entry after Tales of Vesperia and Tales of Symphonia at 2.37 million and 2.4 million copies sold, respectively (Thanks, VG247).
That’s an incredible achievement for a series that’s nowhere near as recognizable as Kingdom Hearts, Persona, or Final Fantasy. Though fans that have been playing since Tales of Symphonia may disagree. It’s ok. They can be wrong.
Perhaps Tales of Arise isn’t shattering records like Elden Ring, but Bandai Namco publishes both, and it’s still celebrating. The company even shared new artwork featuring Tales of Arise supporting characters Dohalim and Kisara, which you should check out below.
We’re celebrating a new major milestone today, as #TalesofArise has reached 2 million copies sold! 🥳

Tales of Arise is the 17th mainline entry in the series, just to give you somewhat of an idea of how unprecedented these numbers are. Bandai Namco isn’t making a sequel or expansion yet, but given the success, nobody should be surprised if it happens.
