A musical theatre group for young people in Lanarkshire is busy preparing for their first live show.
Wing It Musical Theatre launched its classes a year ago to help children and young people boost their confidence post-lockdown and now has over 100 in their ranks.
Rehearsals started away back in December and around 60 talented youngsters from the performing arts group are now busy putting the finishing touches to their version of a classic Roald Dahl story with Matilda the Musical Jr.
The group rehearses in Bellshill YMCA but includes youngsters aged from four to 17 years old from across Lanarkshire including the Wishaw, Motherwell, Law and Hamilton areas.
The theatre group provides classes in dance, acting for stage and screen and singing - including individual vocal sessions as well as group singing sessions.
Steph Kane, who works as a dentist launched the group last year along with her colleague Patrick.
She said: “We both have backgrounds in music and performing arts with adults. We work for the NHS and over lockdown we kind of felt that kids' confidence and social skills had went down the pan with them being isolated for so long.
"We started up in June last year and this is our first live production as a new group. It’s been really great for them.
“We have over 100 young people already. On Wednesday’s we run three classes across three different age groups, then on a Sunday we split into two classes – a junior class and a senior class for Matilda.
“Our two senior classes are also going to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe this Summer.
Matilda the Musical Jr will be performed at Webster’s Theatre in Glasgow on Sunday, June 12.
