Talented Glasgow DJ dies just days before 23rd birthday while abroad

A Glasgow-based DJ sadly died just days before her 23rd birthday while in Hong Kong.

Niamh Jobson tragically passed away on Friday, January 17, 2025, her family announced.

The popular musician died after many years of living with osteosarcoma, a particularly vicious childhood bone cancer.

Revealing the devastating news in an Instagram post, the talented DJ's loved ones wrote: "It is with the most insurmountable pain that we take this time and space to inform you all that our hugely gifted, talented, intuitive, wise, fiercely clever, funny, sparkly, stunningly beautiful legend of a girl, Niamh Jobson, died on Friday, January 17, in Hong Kong, a few short miles from where she was born.

"The 22nd is her 23rd birthday.

"Please, wherever you are in the world, whatever you are doing, join us in celebrating our much loved Queen today. "We will be in touch in the coming weeks to inform you of further arrangements. "Thank you and much love to you all.

"Rest in Glory our Queenie.  "We love you with all our might. "Mumma, Dad, Finn & Betsy-Mae."

Tributes have since flocked in for the much-loved artist - who was an audio engineer, DJ, and producer.

Return To Mono Glasgow said: "Rest in power you total star, talented artist and all-round beautiful human being."

A second person wrote: "What a loss in this world.

"In awe of your strength forever.

"Rest in peace gorgeous."

While another said: "I’ve no words at a time like this except to say you’ll always be with us dancing at the left of the booth.

"Will miss my wee pal forever."

Niamh kicked off her DJ career performing in Glasgow's Sub Club. She also had a show on Radio Buena Vida with fellow Glasgow DJ Kairogen.
