Takumi Minamino transfer from Liverpool to Monaco confirmed as fee and clauses revealed

Takumi Minamino has left Liverpool after completing his move to Monaco.

The Reds agreed a deal which could be worth up to £15.5m for the Japan international last week. It’s understood they will receive £12.9m up front from the Ligue 1 club, with up to a further £2.6m in add-ons.

Moving to Anfield from Red Bull Salzburg in a £7.25m deal in January 2020, the deal sees Liverpool bank a healthy profit for a player who has rarely been more than fringe player under Jurgen Klopp.

After spending the second half of the 2020/21 season on loan at Southampton, the 27-year-old scored 10 goals from 24 appearances last season as he top-scored for the Reds in both domestic cups as they won the FA Cup and League Cup. However, game-time remained limited as he made just 11 appearances in the Premier League with only one coming from the start.

With Liverpool willing to listen to offers for his services as a result, Lyon, Atalanta, Leeds United, Southampton and Wolves all expressed interest in his services. However, it is Monaco who clinched his signature after selling Aurelien Tchouameni to Real Madrid.

Minamino leaves Liverpool having scored 14 goals from 55 appearances and won the Premier League as well as a domestic cup double last season.
