Takumi Minamino Liverpool transfer stance as four clubs express interest in £17m move

Takumi Minamino is poised to become the first big-name Anfield departure of the summer with Liverpool wanting around £17million for the forward.

Minamino is attracting significant interest from a number of clubs as the Reds look to more than double their money on a player they spent £7.25m to sign from Red Bull Salzburg in January 2020.

The 27-year-old's agent, Yusuke Akiyama, has travelled from Japan to discuss a probable transfer, with Minamino likely to have a host of options from which to choose.

Leeds United are among those considering a move, with their manager Jesse Marsch a huge admirer of the player having worked with him at Salzburg. Southampton, where Minamino spent the second half of the 2020/21 season on loan, are also interested, while Wolverhampton Wanderers are keeping tabs on developments as they seek to bolster their forward options.

And Monaco, who will have funds available given the imminent departure of Aurelien Tchouameni to Real Madrid, are another club seeking attacking reinforcements.

The quartet have already spoken to Minamino's representatives with a number having also contacted Liverpool to be informed of the asking price of €20m (£17m).

Minamino scored 10 goals in 24 appearances this season although his appearance when scoring at Southampton in the penultimate Premier League game of the season was his first top-flight start for the Reds since December 2020. In total, he has made 55 appearances for Liverpool, scoring 14 times.
