Take That return with first new music in five years with a twist

Take That are set to release their first new music in five years, with a special twist.

Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Howard Donald teamed up with DJ Robin Schulz to rework 2008 hit Greatest Day. The German DJ has given it a deep house make over, featuring vocals from Britain's Got Talent star Calum Scott.

The original track, from the album The Circus, raced to number one in the UK charts when it was first released. Fans can listen to the new song when it drops next week, on Friday May 5. It will form part of the soundtrack for the group's new film Greatest Days - which is released on June 16.

Take That, who formed in Manchester in the 90s, told The Sun: "Greatest Day is a special song for us - it was one of our biggest singles, and our 11th number one. It’s been fantastic being in the studio working on the new version of the track with Calum and Robin, both such talented artists.

"With the movie Greatest Days coming out this summer we wanted to do something special with the title track and we were really excited that Calum and Robin agreed to be involved. They have been brilliant! We’re really excited for everyone to hear it."

Meanwhile pop singer Calum, who is working on his third LP, said: "I was really nervous about jumping on a song that was already such a smash and recording on my vocal in there but it was also such an honour. Gary and I hit the studio together for a day working on a new section and doing new vocals and then we sent it to the boys [Mark and Howard] to rerecord their parts.

He added: "[Gary and I] said after this track we want to get in the studio together and write original music will be amazing. I'm excited to be able to work with him. Even being linked to a band like Take That is wild."

Take That have a busy summer ahead. As well as their new film, the boys have the King's Coronation concert next month and a British Summer Time gig in July to look forward to.
