Take That fans fumed as Jason Orange was 'replaced' by a Britain's Got Talent star as they performed at the Coronation concert.
The group - originally made up of Robbie Williams, Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, Howard Donald and Jason Orange - were on hand to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles and Queen Camilla, who were crowned at a service at Westminster Abbey in London yesterday before they made their way to Windsor for the Coronation concert.
Gary, Mark and Howard performed together for the special event, their first time performing together on a stage in four years. They impressed with tracks including Shine and Greatest Day before finishing off with Never Forget.
Fans of the trio were gutted to see Calum Scott on the stage with the trio, rather than bandmate Jason Orange. Calum joined them to sing their track Shine, but fans had been hopeful Jason might make a return.
"Now would be a great time to bring Jason on guys!!! #CoronationConcert," one wrote, as another added: "All we need now is Jason and Robbie." A third shared: " #CoronationConcert get jason orange back."
Gary previously teased what fans of the band could expect from their Coronation performance.
He told The Sun on Sunday: " We were really honoured to be asked to take part, it’s a huge moment in our country’s history. This will be the first show we’ve done as Take That since our Odyssey Tour, four years ago in 2019 and what a stage to come back on. We’re keeping a lot of it under wraps, but we have a huge live band, orchestra and choir, plus the backdrop of the beautiful Windsor Castle."
The band are expecting to release an album later this year, which would be their first new LP offering in five years.
Speaking about making the album, Mark shared last year: "We’ve kind of started [writing the album] already. We’ve learnt to work remotely because we live in different parts of the world. So I’ll send off a chorus and say, ‘Let me know what you think, lads’, then it will be back a few days later and it’s had a little more written on it."
Fans are no doubt hopeful Take That will stick to their planned schedule to release some new music before the summer, and the album is expected to follow that later in the year, around the October time.
